LA lot of people are asking me about the difference between Collagen Powder and Collagen Capsules/tablets. Does it matter which one you choose? Does it have the same nutritional value? Which one is the better option? What is the difference between Marine Collagen and Bovine Collagen?

We will be discussing the differences between these two options and hopefully will give the reader a better understanding in making the right choice that will suite them.

which one is best?

First and foremost let’s look at the difference between Marine Collagen and Bovine Collagen. Marine Collagen comes from fish and Bovine Collagen from cows. Both these Collagen types are not Vegan as it is sourced from animals. Both have been hydrolyzed to make it smaller to be absorbed by the body to be used effectively.

Both Marine Collagen and Bovine Collagen contain type 1 Collagen which makes up of 90% in our body and is responsible for providing structure to the bones, dermis, connective tissue, ligaments, tendons, cornea and teeth. Marine Collagen also contains type 2 Collagen which helps cartilage and cushion the joints. Bovine Collagen has type 3 Collagen as well and is important for muscles, organs (including the skin), vessel walls and arteries are all given structure through the support of this type of Collagen.

Marine Collagen has more off allanine which increases immunity and provides energy for the central nervous system, muscle tissue and brain. It also has arginine for wound healing and Aspartic acid which has a role in neurotransmitting. Bovine Collagen has typically more Glycine which provides strength for muscle, skin, bones and blood. It also has Hydroxyproline which plays a role in Collagen stability and has proline which help contain and strengthen heart muscles. Both these Collagens are a good choice as not one is better than the other.

DOES IT REALLY MATTER?

In short it does not matter. It all comes down to personal preference. The only thing you will have to remember is that you would have to take about 20 tablets/capsules per day versus one scoop of Collagen Powder to get the same amount of product in a day. If you are like me who don’t like taking tablets, then taking Collagen Powder is for you. Both the tablet and the powder is further broken down in the GI tract and absorbed into the bloodstream after digestion. One of the other reasons I prefer the powder is because it’s more cost effective and it’s so versatile in adding to any hot or cold beverage or even to plain water as it dissolves completely.

Do you love baking? Then you’ll be happy to hear that you can add Collagen Powder to your favorite baked goods. You can add it to your favorite recipes or add a scoop or two to your overnight oats, soups and pasta sauces. Nothing could be easier. Make sure to ask your supplier to provide you with a certificate to that state that their product is free from hormones and heavy metals as it has been found that some types of Collagen do contain these ingredients although on the label it might state that it’s comes from natural grass-fed cows. Also make sure that the Collagen that you buy has no taste as it could be that the Collagen used is a cheaper version and not a high quality type of Collagen. No one wants a bad aftertaste in their morning coffee or beverage.

Conclusion

In closing, whether you choose Collagen Tablets or Collagen Powder it all comes down to personal preference. Both can be beneficial for the body in helping replenish lost Collagen. Remember we all age and as we age we loose Collagen which is a building block for our bodies, so using Collagen Peptides is a good way to replace this lost Collagen.
